How to Whittle Down Your Waist & Boost Your Health (Includes Healthy Recipes)

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year to you all!  What a great start to the year and I believe that it is going to be a wonderful year according to Julie Kay, our resident Medium and Numerologist.  I cannot get over the fact there is such a big build up to Christmas and it seems that in a flash it's all over and already the second week of January.  Is the planet spinning faster?  Where does the time go?  I am determined this year to stop, take some time out and smell the roses.

We spent New Years Eve in Toowoomba this year with some great friends and watched the most spectacular fireworks ever....on the telly!  If you haven't been to Toowoomba, it is such a beautiful place to visit and they have some great coffee shops and deli's!  They really do, I enjoy nothing more than sitting in a country coffee shop with umbrella's, cobblestone paths, birds and beautiful green gardens.  Even more enjoyable if you are surrounded by friends enjoying a great conversation and even better...good coffee!  I think you get the message, I like coffee.

This year we start fresh, sadly, Lisa has moved on to concentrate on her business endevours and we will miss her cheerfulness and sense of sanity.  It has been an absolute pleasure to have her working with us over the past 8 months and we wish her all the very best for her and her family.

Sue Humphreys is back to working Monday and Friday mornings and all day Tuesday and Thursdays.  Below are some fantastic offers for you to experience Sue's extensive knowledge and expertise first hand.  Julie Kay, our resident Medium is back this year offering personal readings on Wednesday's by appointment only and Julie will also be teaching a Meditation Discovery Night on the 6th February, cost is $10 per person!

Discovery Nights are a new service we are offering at our clinic.  They will be held on a monthly basis, usually between 6.30pm - 8.00pm at a minimal cost and are a great way to get out of the house enjoy a drink, some nibblies, conversation and as always a bit of fun as we introduce you to a range of different topics.  Be sure to book for these as numbers are limited!  A full list of upcoming Discovery Nights and their respective topics are covered within this newsletter.

I am also very excited about our NEW luxurious certified organic and vegan range of skincare which has been formulated for the professional spa and will only be available in store.  This skincare range combines medicinal levels of certified organic plant extracts with 100% naturally derived ingredients.  Not just a pretend natural product, this range has full organic certification by the Organic Food Chain (OFC) and Vegan certification through the Vegan society in the UK which will enable it to stand alone from many other would be organic products available.  This range of products endures a rigorous certification process of the manufacturing facility as well as the formulas together with random audits from the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service, the approved certifier of the OFC, we can proudly say that these products are unlike many products offered in the current market especially when some organically certified products are certified by their own companies certifying standards.  All of these products will be used by Sue Humphrey's in her facial and body treatments for a truly organic experience.  Another exciting range which will arrive before the end of the week is our fully certified organic Baby Range.  The range will consist of Baby Powder, Baby Moisturiser, Baby Bottom Balm, Baby Bath Wash and Baby Shampoo.  The Baby Range of products will also be available to buy online in the next couple of weeks.

Did you know we offer complimentary Foot Reflexology treatments?  Anytime you are passing by or just want to get out of the house for a cuppa, we would love for you to stop in and enjoy 15 or 30 minutes on our Personal Reflexologist Machine...and you can even enjoy a selection of herbal or organic teas or a real coffee all complimentary.  WHY?  Because we love having you around and we enjoy a chat or you can choose to just enjoy some solitude and we'll leave you to relax!

Until next month, keep safe and enjoy smelling the roses!

Wishing you health and happiness!

Duane

Julie Kay - Inspirational Metaphysical Speaker, Teacher, Medium, Healer and Author

A medium has the ability to connect to the spirit or soul of a loved one that has passed over. Usually bringing messages that verify the existence of that loved one. A medium has no control over the soul or spirit that comes through in a reading. The messages are always correct, but it is the mediums perception of these messages and symbols that may interrupt the accuracy of a medium reading. What may not make an ounce of sense to the medium can have profound significance to the person who is having the reading. A medium also has the ability to connect to a person's own master guide to relay messages that will guide them. Intuitive and Medium ability is available to all (refer to frequently asked questions)

Julie answers some frequently asked questions.

What is a Medium?

A Medium is someone who has the ability to connect to the Life Force Energy of their own guides and masters, and to the Life Force Energy of people who have passed away and their guides and masters. A medium receive messages and guidance from the other side for themselves and others.

Do you really see dead people?

This would have to be the most frequently asked question. I don't literally see dead people, but I do connect to their Life Force Energy (their Soul) and see them as they wish to appear. Generally it is how someone would have remembered them.

What do you see?

I see the image of the person through my third eye area. It is usually an image of how they would best be remembered. I get feelings and emotions as expressed by the person I am connecting too and they speak through my mind. It's a bit like trying to play charades if they are not strong communicators. They will show you symbolic things, that usually only have a meaning to the person you are doing the reading for.

It's a wonderful gift to be able to connect to someone who has passed over and give their loved ones a message and confirmation of things that only they would know.

Do you ever see anything bad?

I always protect myself so that only the higher vibrational Energy of a person's Life Force Energy may come through. Just like there are people who choose not to come from a higher consciousness on this earth, there are also Life Force Energies that come from a lower consciousness and can be mischievous. Protecting yourself is easy and I have never had a bad experience since I learnt how.

How long have you been seeing people who have passed over?

Ever since I was a little girl. We lived in a very old house that had the energy of the old man that used to live there. I had quite a few encounters with him and as a young child this totally freaked me out. My family brushed it off as an overimaginative imagination and I felt I must be insane. So I learnt to keep my experiences quite.

I'm afraid that you will tell me something bad!

As a medium I ask not to receive negative messages. Communication can be misinterpreted on this side, let alone when you're communicating with the other. If I do see something negative like the death of someone I choose not to relay it. About two years ago I read for a lady and I saw a close male around her die suddenly. I chose not to tell the lady because she would have lived in fear waiting and wondering what was going to happen. Six months later her brother dropped dead in her garden. He had an aneurism. It was something that no one could fix or change, so instead of living her life waiting for the day, she got to spend it enjoying the time her brother had left.
I believe a true medium would never choose to put a person into a state of fear.

Julie now offers Personal Readings on Wednesday's by appointment only at the Scentual NRG Wellness Centre.  The cost of a 1/2 hour Reading is $40.00 and a 1 hour Reading $70.00.  Please phone Duane on 5578 7437 to arrange an appointment.

How to Whittle Down Your Waist & Boost Your Health

(From the Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation)

Love to eat more healthily but can’t quite find the time? The hectic modern lifestyle needn’t mean suffering on the health stakes. Did you know that cutting out meat could cut your chances of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer – and could even add up to six years to your life expectancy?

Of course, if you replace meat with chocolate éclairs and chip bunties you’re unlikely to reap maximum health benefits. The key is choosing healthy meat substitutes, such as tofu and other ‘mock meats’, beans, lentils, whole-grain products (brown rice, whole-grain bread), dark green and deep yellow vegetables, soya milk and nuts.

But going veggie needn’t mean learning enough new recipes to fill an encyclopedia. Many familiar dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese, chilli and stir-fries can easily be made veggie. Most people have about seven or eight dishes that they cook regularly and, surprise surprise, vegetarians are no different:

Traditional Breakfast

Veggie Version

Cereal with milk and fruit served with orange juice

Cereal with fortified soya/rice milk and fruit, served with orange juice

Scrambled eggs, toast, sausage, cup of tea

Scrambled tofu, wholemeal toast, veggie sausage, cup of tea with soya milk

Pancakes and maple syrup

Pancakes (egg and dairy-free) and maple syrup with fresh fruit

Traditional Lunch

Veggie Version

Chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and mayo; yogurt; crisps

Smoked tofu or hummus sandwich with lettuce, tomato and vegan mayo; fruity soya yoghurt; piece of fruit

Chicken soup, bread, green salad and vinaigrette

Vegetable or minestrone soup, wholemeal bread, green salad with low-fat dressing

Burger and chips

Veggieburger in a wholemeal roll, chutney and vegan mayo with extra portion of salad

Sausage Sarnie

Veggie Sausage Sarnie on wholemeal bread, tomato/brown sauce and salad

Traditional Dinner

Veggie Version

Grilled salmon, boiled new potatoes with butter; asparagus with parmesan cheese

Grilled giant field mushrooms drizzled with olive oil, garlic
and shoyu (a type of soya sauce); boiled new potatoes with basil and black pepper; grilled asparagus with a drizzle of olive oil and nutritional yeast flakes (Marigold/Engevita brand available in large supermarkets and health stores)

Spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread

Veggie Bolognese (substitute frozen veggie mince for meat). Serve with crusty bread and green salad

Quiche Lorraine, chips and salad

Red onion tart, baked potato or low-fat potato wedges and salad

Chicken Chow Mein

Sticky tofu stir-fry with noodles

Chilli Con Carne Chilli

Non Carne (substitute frozen veggie mince for meat), guacamole, rice and salad

Bangers and Mash

Bangers and Mash – vegan sausages, mashed potatoes creamed with vegan margarine and soya milk; steamed greens and gravy

If banishing a beer belly appeals then look no further. Researchers at the American Cancer Society studied more than 75,000 people for a decade to find out which behaviours were most associated with an increasing waistline. Even after controlling for other factors, people who ate more than a single serving of meat per day were 50 per cent more likely to put on weight around their middles  (the most unhealthy way to carry fat) than those who ate meat just a few times per week.
